Arthroscopic Ankle Surgery
This minimally invasive surgical technique is used to treat and diagnose problems with the ankle joint. It’s performed using a thin fiber-optic camera called an arthroscope.
During arthroscopic surgery, your doctor will insert the arthroscope, along with surgical instruments, into small incisions in your ankle. The camera will transmit magnified images of the inside of your ankle to a video screen so your surgeon can “see” what’s going on inside your ankle without creating a large incision.
Arthroscopic ankle surgery is used to diagnose and treat a number of conditions, including ankle arthritis, fractures, ligament damage, and debris in the ankle from torn cartilage or bone chips.
Your Specialty Surgery Center doctor will discuss different aspects of the procedure before your scheduled surgery date so you can ask any questions you may have.
